Welcome to HTIR

Welcome to HTIR - Hobby Town International Raceway

My name is Joe Maxey and I'm the owner/operator of HTIR. HTIR is a 90'x50'(with a 20'x70' oval track for Vta/Euro Truck racing) temporary parking lot track that is set up in front of Hobby Town USA, North & South Austin locations.

HTIR has a great team thst comes together to put on the races each month. Chris Brame, Larry Myers & Ken Wilkerson. If you need anything while at the track please reach out to Amy of us for help.

We strive to bring you old school parking lot racing from back in the day when racing was cheap, and you left with a huge smile on your face after spending your time off with your buddies having a great time. We respect you and the time that you spend with us. We work very hard to make the time you spend at HTIR very rewarding.

Do/Don'ts @ HTIR. Do bring a positive attitude and a big smile. Bring a willingness to help others around you. Help bring racers & hobbyist to the track to continue its growth.

Don'ts @ HTIR. Don't get mad... bring any/all problems to one of the race management's attention. Don't smoke in the pit areas or around other racers. No foul language.

What HTIR gives you for your race day. HTIR will provide a clean & prepped parking lot surface. Race track will consist of a 90x50 3" PVC exterior barriers to contain your race car & 1.5" PVC interior barriers as lane dividers to create a road course style track.

What you'll need to bring to HTIR. You'll need to provide your own power, pit table & chair, Ez-up & anything else that is needed for you to enjoy your race day. HTIR will have covered pitting(with power) for 20 racers, first come first served. You'll just need a chair for the pits.

Cost to race at HTIR. You can enjoy 2005 pricing at HTIR. Race fees are $10 for unlimited classes. You will have 1 1/2 hours of practice time between 11am & 12:30pm. Races start at 1pm. You will have 3 - 6 minute qualifier and 1 - 6 minute Main.

Talking

Ok now for the awesome news coming to HTIR racing.

These classes will be added to our regular club racing and to our HTIR series. No points will be given at the HTIR series though.

We are adding 2 hand out motor classes as of the first race of July. First class is Super stock Tc with a 13.5 hand out motor & the 2nd class will be Pro Tc wit a 8.5 as its hand out motor. Each class will have a minimum final drive.

Motor will be own and maintained by the track. If you wish to own your own hand out motor we can sell you one of our locked and inspected motors at a great price. This way you wouldn't have to solder a motor in each race.

We will have our spec 21.5 available as a hand out motor also for those that don't want to purchase one but wants to race with us from time to time.

Super stock Tc:
Chassis - 190mm 4wd Tc
Motor - Hand out 13.5 fixed timing
Lipo - 2s hardcase (8.4v max)
Esc - Roar Approved Blinky
Body - Roar approved T2
Tires - Solaris 36J White - S-T36JGM4W
Weight - 1350g
Final Drive - TBD Minimum

Pro Tc:
Chassis - 190mm 4wd Tc
Motor - Hand out 8.5 fixed timing
Lipo - 2s hardcase (8.4v max)
Esc - Roar Approved Blinky
Body - Roar approved T2
Tires - Solaris 36J White - S-T36JGM4W
Weight - 1350g
Final Drive - TBD Minimum

More news coming soon!!!!!!

Be interesting seeing how this handout series plays out. Hopefully, it will be successful for HTIR.

Question on battery voltage listed as "Lipo - 2s hardcase (8.4v max)". Is that a provision for overvoltage 2s Lipo's? I've not been into electric for some time now, so have missed some of the technological advances in batteries.

Cheers. AC

We allow 8.4v max on voltage. If you are over voltage at tech, we have a burn out pad so you can get rid of the extra voltage. No big deal.
